Operational Context

Embraer KC-390 — twin-engine military transport aircraft

The KC-390 first flew in 2015 and entered service in 2019. It was designed to replace older turboprop transports with a faster jet-powered platform. The aircraft features a high-mounted wing and rear cargo ramp for military logistics operations.

Powered by two International Aero Engines V2500 turbofan engines producing approximately 31,000 pounds of thrust (138 kN) each, the KC-390 cruises at around 470 knots (870 km/h). Maximum takeoff weight exceeds 190,000 pounds (86,183 kg). The aircraft can carry cargo, vehicles, or perform aerial refueling missions.

The KC-390 has been selected by several air forces seeking modern transport capability. Its jet speed offers faster deployment compared with turboprop competitors. The aircraft continues to gain international orders.
