Operational Context

Embraer Legacy 500 — fly-by-wire midsize business jet

The Legacy 500 first flew in 2012 and entered service in 2014. It featured a swept-wing design and a flat-floor cabin uncommon in its class. Embraer positioned it as a technologically advanced alternative to established midsize jets.

Two Honeywell HTF7500E turbofan engines producing approximately 6,540 pounds of thrust (29.1 kN) each power the aircraft. Cruise speed approaches Mach 0.82. Maximum takeoff weight exceeds 40,000 pounds (18,144 kg), with range near 3,100 nautical miles (5,741 km).

The Legacy 500 gained recognition for smooth handling and modern avionics integration. It later evolved into the Praetor 500 with extended range. The aircraft remains a competitive entry in the midsize category.
