Operational Context

Sukhoi Su-35 — advanced multirole fighter

The Su-35 program emerged in the 2000s as a comprehensive update of the Su-27 airframe. It incorporated revised aerodynamics, improved radar systems, and advanced flight control software. The aircraft entered service in the 2010s with modernized systems.

Powered by two Saturn AL-41F1S turbofan engines producing approximately 31,000 pounds of thrust (138 kN) each with afterburner, the Su-35 exceeds Mach 2. Maximum takeoff weight is about 75,000 pounds (34,000 kg). The aircraft carries a wide range of air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions.

The Su-35 emphasizes agility through thrust-vectoring and advanced control systems. It has been exported to several countries and remains part of Russia’s frontline fighter inventory. The aircraft represents one of the most capable derivatives of the Flanker series.
