The Best Business Class Airlines in the World (2026 Ranking)

Qatar Airways has the best business class in the world in 2026. It is the only airline that both the Skytrax World Airline Awards and One Mile at a Time (OMAAT), an independent reviewer who has flown every product he ranks, put at number one this year.

Singapore Airlines is second and ANA All Nippon Airways third. The one serious challenge to Qatar comes from AirlineRatings.com, the third major ranking, which named Cathay Pacific’s new Aria Suite the world’s best business class for 2026 and put Qatar’s Qsuite among its runners-up.

This page ranks each airline by its average position across the Skytrax and OMAAT lists, as of September 2026. For each one, you also get the aircraft to book, because business class on the wrong plane can be a much older seat.

1. Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways won the Skytrax World’s Best Business Class Airline award for 2026. Its Qsuite also won the World’s Best Business Class Seat, and its Al Mourjan Garden lounge in Doha won the World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge.

One Mile at a Time ranks it first as well, and says that if he could only fly one airline in business class again, it would be Qatar. No other airline wins on both lists.

The Qsuite, introduced in 2017, is on every Qatar Airbus A350-1000 and on select A350-900s, 777-200LRs and 777-300ERs. Each suite has a door, and the layout is the clever part: the center pairs form a double bed, and a group of four can reserve a quad that opens into one large suite.

Why is it number one when ANA has a bigger seat? The whole package has no weak link: dine-on-demand catering, pajamas, free Starlink Wi-Fi and caviar on select routes. OMAAT’s verdict is that there is no more well-rounded business class flying.

The one catch is consistency. Qatar’s Boeing 787-9s carry a different seat, the Adient Ascent, which has a door and aisle access but is not the Qsuite. A next-generation Qsuite is also planned.

2. Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines finished second with Skytrax and fourth with OMAAT. Skytrax also named it the best business class in Asia.

Its ranking is a vote for service, not hardware. OMAAT says the seat is not cutting edge on the A350, A380 or 777, and that amenities lag, with no pajamas, basic amenity kits and no dine-on-demand.

What earns the spot is the crew. OMAAT says no airline more consistently delivers exceptional business class service, and he adds free Wi-Fi, the KrisWorld entertainment system and “Book the Cook,” which lets you pre-order from a far bigger menu than the one served onboard.

A new seat is coming, but later than planned. The current business class debuted in 2013, and the first of 41 A350-900s to be refitted with new cabins slipped to the first quarter of 2027, blamed on supply chains and a delay in certifying one of the seats.

3. ANA All Nippon Airways

ANA ranks third with OMAAT and fourth with Skytrax, whose voters also rated its seat second in the world. It has what OMAAT calls the world’s best business class seat, known as The Room.

Introduced in 2019, The Room flies only on select Boeing 777-300ERs. Each suite has a door and far more personal space than a normal business seat, and OMAAT says it beats the Qsuite on hardware and feels more like first class.

So why is it third? The tech is not as good as Japan Airlines’, and OMAAT prefers both JAL’s and Qatar’s soft product. A modified version of The Room is coming to select ANA 787s.

4. Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific is the airline the three rankings disagree on most. Skytrax puts it third and OMAAT eighth, but AirlineRatings named its Aria Suite the world’s best business class for 2026, which wins it the tie with Japan Airlines.

AirlineRatings’ chief executive, Sharon Petersen, said the Qsuite had gone a long time without a challenger and that the Aria Suite “narrowly edges above it.” The judges pointed to details like a screen that dims automatically at night and a map showing which lavatories are free.

The Aria Suite is being retrofitted onto Cathay’s Boeing 777-300ERs. It is a modified Collins Aerospace Elements seat with a sliding door, Bluetooth audio and wireless charging, and OMAAT rates its bedding among the best in any business class.

Book a retrofitted 777 specifically. The Aria Suite is still being fitted across the fleet, and Cathay’s other aircraft carry older business class seats.

5. Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines is the biggest gap between reviewer and voters. OMAAT ranks it second in the world, while Skytrax puts it ninth.

The reason is one plane. JAL is the launch customer for the Safran Unity seat on its Airbus A350-1000, which OMAAT calls one of the most spacious and best designed business class seats he has seen, with headrest speakers, Bluetooth audio and wireless charging.

The soft product backs it up: friendly service, very good food, free Wi-Fi and comfortable bedding. OMAAT prefers it to ANA overall, even though ANA’s seat is bigger.

6. STARLUX Airlines

STARLUX is the youngest airline on the list, and both rankings place it seventh. The Taiwanese carrier flies long-haul on Airbus A350s.

It is the launch customer for the Collins Aerospace Elements seat, which OMAAT calls the world’s best reverse herringbone seat. Each seat has a door, a 24-inch screen and much more footwell room than older designs, which is where most reverse herringbone beds feel tight.

The service holds up too, with free Wi-Fi, pajamas and a wide food and drink selection. Skytrax voters ranked it sixth for business class catering.

7. Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines ranks sixth with Skytrax and ninth with OMAAT, and it gets there almost entirely on food. Skytrax gave it World’s Best Business Class Onboard Catering again in 2026 and named it the best business class in Europe.

The seat is the weak point. OMAAT calls the hard product mediocre: staggered seats on the 787 and seven seats per row on the 777.

The exception is a subset of A350s originally built for Aeroflot, which carry the Collins Horizon seat with a door. OMAAT says Turkish has the best food of any airline in business class, and a new seat is planned.

8. EVA Air

EVA Air finished sixth with OMAAT and tenth with Skytrax, whose voters also rated its amenities third in the world. Like Turkish, it wins on soft product rather than seats.

Its business class is a reverse herringbone on the Boeing 777 and a staggered seat on the 787, neither of which OMAAT calls special. The food, champagne, pajamas and a Din Tai Fung dining partnership are what put it on his list, as one of his favorite soft products anywhere.

9. Hainan Airlines

Hainan is the surprise of the Skytrax list. Voters put it fifth in the world for business class, named it the best business class in China, and gave it the award for the World’s Best Business Class Comfort Amenities.

OMAAT does not rank it at all, which is why it sits ninth here. On its 787-9s, Hainan flies a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone seat, and a 2019 review by The Points Guy praised the pajamas, Bose headphones and service but found the Wi-Fi painfully slow.

10. Air France

Air France is the best business class in Europe on OMAAT’s list, which he added as a wildcard after his top 10. Skytrax ranks it eighth in the world.

Its newest cabins, on the Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900, have reverse herringbone seats with doors and excellent tech. On the 777 it is the Safran Versa seat, and on the A350 a very similar product from a different maker.

Just outside the top 10: Emirates and Etihad

Emirates and Etihad tie at 10.5. Etihad is fifth with OMAAT but 16th with Skytrax, and Emirates is 10th and 11th.

Etihad’s new A350 business class has reverse herringbone seats with doors, Bluetooth audio and wireless charging, and its newest 787s carry the Collins Elements seat. OMAAT also credits its Armani/Casa bedding and dine-on-demand menu.

Virgin Atlantic (12th on Skytrax) and Delta Air Lines (13th) are the best-placed Western airlines after Air France. OMAAT’s second wildcard is Italy’s ITA Airways, which he rates for its food and service.

Which US airline has the best business class?

Delta Air Lines, on the voters’ verdict. Skytrax named Delta One the best business class in North America for 2026, and Delta is the highest US airline in its world business class ranking, at 13th.

The Delta One Suite, with a door, flies on the A350-900 and A330-900neo. OMAAT puts it tenth among the world’s business class seats, but notes the door does not fully close and the window seats lack storage.

The ranking could move soon. United’s Polaris Studio debuted on April 22, 2026, on UA1 from San Francisco to Singapore: eight suites per 787-9 that are 25% larger than regular Polaris seats, with doors and a 27-inch 4K OLED screen, which United says is the largest of any US airline.

American’s answer is the Flagship Suite, with privacy doors, on the premium-configured 787-9, the A321XLR and, from September 2, 2026, retrofitted 777-300ERs carrying 70 suites each. American is also ending Flagship First on those 777s for travel from November 19, 2026.

How to pick the right business class seat

The airline matters less than the plane. Nearly every airline on this list flies at least two different business class seats, and the ranking describes the best one.

Check the aircraft type on your booking, then check the seat map. A 1-2-1 layout means every seat has direct aisle access, while 2-2-2 or seven-across layouts mean climbing over a neighbor, as our guide to the types of airplane seats explains.
