Operational Context
Eurocopter EC155 B1 — medium twin-engine helicopter
The EC155 first flew in 1997 and entered service in 1999. It features a stretched cabin and five-blade main rotor. The design emphasizes passenger comfort and reduced vibration.
Two turboshaft engines producing approximately 935 shaft horsepower each power the helicopter. Cruise speed approaches 160 knots (296 km/h). Maximum takeoff weight exceeds 10,500 pounds (4,763 kg).
The EC155 B1 has been widely adopted for offshore transport and VIP missions. Its combination of speed and cabin space supports diverse operations. Production transitioned to Airbus Helicopters branding.
