Operational Context

Boeing 747-8 Freighter — long-range widebody cargo aircraft

The 747-8F first flew in 2010 and entered service in 2011. It features a stretched fuselage, new wing design, and updated engines compared with earlier 747 models. The aircraft retains the distinctive hump-backed upper deck.

Powered by four General Electric GEnx turbofan engines producing approximately 66,500 pounds of thrust (296 kN) each, the 747-8F cruises at about 490 knots (905 km/h). Maximum takeoff weight exceeds 975,000 pounds (442,000 kg). It offers increased cargo volume and payload capacity over previous freighter variants.

The 747-8F serves major cargo airlines worldwide. Its nose-loading capability and large capacity make it well suited to oversized freight. The aircraft represents the final generation of the iconic 747 series.
