Gulfstream G450

The large-cabin business jet built for intercontinental range and reliability.

Overview

Gulfstream United States ICAO: GLF4 2004–2018 Active $43 million (2018)

The Gulfstream G450 entered service in the mid-2000s as a refined development of the earlier GIV-SP platform. Designed to offer long-range capability with modern avionics, it became a core model in Gulfstream’s large-cabin lineup. The aircraft balanced transoceanic performance with proven systems architecture.

Operational Context

Gulfstream G450 — long-range large-cabin business jet

The G450 first flew in 2003 and entered service in 2004. Although derived from the GIV family, it incorporated a redesigned flight deck and aerodynamic refinements. Gulfstream positioned the aircraft as a dependable intercontinental platform capable of linking major business centers nonstop.

Two Rolls-Royce Tay turbofan engines, each producing approximately 13,850 pounds of thrust (61.6 kN), power the aircraft. Typical cruise speed is around Mach 0.80, with high-speed cruise near Mach 0.88. Maximum takeoff weight exceeds 74,000 pounds (33,566 kg), and range approaches 4,350 nautical miles (8,056 km).

The G450 became widely adopted by corporate flight departments and government operators. Its combination of cabin comfort and proven reliability supported long production runs until the mid-2010s. The model represents one of Gulfstream’s most successful transitional large-cabin jets.
