The stretched light jet built for extended range and cabin flexibility.

Overview

Cessna United States ICAO: C25A 2000–2016 Active $7 million (2012)

The Cessna Citation CJ2 expanded the original CJ series by offering additional cabin length and range. Entering service at the turn of the century, it targeted owner-operators and corporate users seeking greater capacity than the CJ1. Operational Context

Cessna Citation CJ2 — light twin-engine business jet

The CJ2 first flew in 1999 and entered service in 2000. It featured a stretched fuselage compared with earlier CJ variants, allowing seating for up to eight occupants depending on configuration. The aircraft was certified for single-pilot operation, broadening its appeal.

Two Williams FJ44 turbofan engines, each producing approximately 2,400 pounds of thrust (10.7 kN), power the jet. Typical cruise speed is around 400 knots (741 km/h). Maximum takeoff weight exceeds 12,500 pounds (5,670 kg), with range approaching 1,500 nautical miles (2,778 km).

The CJ2 became popular among corporate and charter operators seeking efficient short- to mid-range capability. Its avionics suite and manageable operating costs supported widespread adoption. The aircraft remains active in global light jet fleets.
