Cessna Citation Encore

The refined light jet built for improved climb and cruise performance.

Overview

Cessna United States ICAO: C560 2000–2006 Active $8.7 million

The Citation Encore evolved from earlier Citation II models with upgraded engines and systems. Introduced in the early 2000s, it offered better high-altitude performance. The aircraft targeted corporate operators requiring efficient short- to medium-range capability.

Operational Context

Cessna Citation Encore — light twin-engine business jet

The Encore entered service in 2000 as an enhancement of the Citation Ultra lineage. Structural and systems refinements improved reliability and avionics integration. The aircraft retained the straight-wing Citation design heritage.

Two Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D turbofan engines, each producing approximately 3,400 pounds of thrust (15.1 kN), power the jet. Cruise speed approaches 425 knots (787 km/h). Maximum takeoff weight exceeds 16,000 pounds (7,257 kg).

The Encore became valued for strong climb performance and straightforward operation. It remained competitive in the light jet segment until replaced by newer CJ-series models. Many remain active in charter service.
