Operational Context

Bombardier Learjet 40XR — light business jet

The 40XR first flew in 2004 and entered service shortly thereafter. It retained the swept-wing configuration characteristic of Learjet designs. Systems upgrades improved performance margins compared with earlier models.

Two Honeywell TFE731 turbofan engines producing approximately 3,500 pounds of thrust (15.6 kN) each power the aircraft. Cruise speed approaches 460 knots (852 km/h). Maximum takeoff weight exceeds 21,000 pounds (9,525 kg).

The Learjet 40XR served corporate and charter operators seeking strong climb rates and efficient cruise. Production ended in the early 2010s as Bombardier restructured its light jet lineup. Many remain active in business aviation fleets.
