Operational Context

HondaJet — very light business jet

The HondaJet first flew in 2003 in prototype form and entered service in 2015. Its distinctive engine placement reduces drag and increases cabin volume. The aircraft was engineered for single-pilot certification and owner operation.

Two Honda HF120 turbofan engines producing approximately 2,050 pounds of thrust (9.1 kN) each power the jet. Cruise speed approaches 420 knots (778 km/h). Maximum takeoff weight exceeds 10,600 pounds (4,808 kg), with range near 1,400 nautical miles (2,593 km).

The HondaJet achieved strong market success in the very light jet category. Updated variants introduced increased range and payload. The aircraft remains a prominent competitor in its segment.
